Here is what you need to know before renting your boat
Do I need a boating safety course to rent a boat?
While highly recommended, it is not mandatory to have taken the boating safety course. It is the rental agency's duty to provide the operator with a basic orientation session on the safety features of the boat, its equipment, and its characteristics. In addition, it will provide information on any hazards present on local waterways. The safety checklist (provided by the rental agency) is used as a reference for this session. Once the rental agreement has been signed by both parties, the rental agreement serves as proof of competency for the duration of the contract only. A photo ID is required in addition.
Does my insurance cover boat rentals?
- It is your responsibility to verify with your insurer whether or not you are covered for the rental of the chosen vehicle. A $1,000 deductible for damage to the vehicles is required. La Source à bord carries $2,000,000 in civil liability insurance.
- By signing a rental agreement with La Source à bord, you assume personal responsibility for any damage caused in any way to the rented property, as well as for any person or damage that may be caused by the rented property while it is in your possession.
- You accept the risks inherent to the rented equipment and agree not to hold La Source à bord liable for any physical damage you may sustain or any damage affecting your personal property.

Which accessories are included with the rental?

How much fuel should I budget for the duration of my rental agreement?
Fuel consumption is specific to how each vehicle is used; it is very difficult for us to provide an approximate amount because it varies depending on the renter's usage.
Can I go to the United States with the rented vessel?

Is a deposit required at the time of booking and what is your cancellation policy?
1.A. At the time of booking, a 50% deposit of the total invoice is required to finalize your reservation. Please note that you are fully responsible for your booking. Cancellations are not possible once your booking has been made. In the event of a no-show on the day, you will be charged the full amount of your contract without notice.
We offer weather protection ($30 + taxes), which allows you to cancel on the morning of your booking without additional fees only if it rains (more than 2 consecutive hours of rain) at the rental center address, located at 470 Route 263, Saint-Romain, QC. The decision to cancel is made on the morning itself between 6:30 A.M. and 7:30 A.M., which is 2 hours before opening, as we check satellite weather maps. In the absence of rain, your 50% deposit will be refunded to you that same morning. This insurance does not cover cold or wind. If you are renting more than one vessel per reservation, you must purchase weather protection for each vessel.
A mandatory pre-authorization of $1,000 will be charged to your credit card on the day you take possession of the vessel. This pre-authorization will cover the $1,000 deductible in the event of damage. You are entirely responsible for the vessel during your rental period. Please note that in the event of major damage to the vessel, you will be required to pay for the full duration of the vessel's loss of use.
What should we do if my boat breaks down?
- If the breakdown is due to a mechanical issue with the watercraft, we will replace it at our expense.
- If the breakdown is caused by improper use of the watercraft, it is your responsibility to make arrangements to return it to us. If you are unable to do so, we will handle the towing for an additional fee.
Which documents should I fill out?
